Stuff Mixtape #30 is slightly shorter and tighter collection of random tunes that were in my ears during October 2024.
Here's why each of these amazing tunes made it into my playlist.
- Old Friend - Zaha de Sagazan & Tom Odell | Stunning collaboration between two great voices, between French and English there is a euphoria I love here.
- Santa Fe - Luke Sital-Singh & Lisa Hannigan | Another great duet, two beautifully delicate voices combine to great effect.
- Il Cielo in una stanza - Mina | Vintage Italian stunner taken from the finale of an episode of Suburra.
- Army Dreamers - The Last Dinner Party | Classic Kate Bush tune gets a modern, live update from a previous Stuff favourite band.
- Gumbri - Kaktus Einarsson & Damon Albarn | Icelandic goodness featuring the hyper productive Blur singer.
- Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves - Roisin O | Another cover, this time from Ireland. Love this version of the Cher classic.
- Better Off Alone - Midwife | Eerie, ethereal rave classic cover.
- Alone - The Cure | Back, and sounding as awesome and gloom filled as ever.
- Land of the Tyrants - Benefits and Zara TΓΈnin | Pulsating, angry dancefloor friendly.
- Mum does the Washing - Joshua Idehen | Not fully sure how to describe this, excellent explainer for political systems.
- Neptunes - Kaitlyn Aurelis Smith & Joe Goddard | Housey, bouncy electronica that lifts the spirits from start to finish.
- Sunshine - Kelly Lee Owens | Concert was postponed in Dublin, but newmusic will see us through until 2025.
- Feast - Sprints | Dublin rock band, back with this urgent and noisy banger.
- Do Nothing - The Specials | Featured in a TV programme I can't quite remember, but a great reminder of how good The Specials were.
- To conquer pain with Love - Mariam the Believer | Fantastic torch song, other-worldly and reverent. Led me to an amazing album.
- Mambo in Piscina - Piero Umiliani | More vintage Italiana, great vibes for late night.
