Stuff Mixtape #33 is the first mix of 2025 - and we start as we mean to go on, with some terrifc tunes to kick off the year.

Here's why each of these amazing tunes made it into my playlist.

  • I Like it Like That - The Fugitives | Terrific anthem from 1965, rereleased by The Numero Group.
  • Everyday - Celeste | Based on Dirge by Death in Vegas, excellent new single from British singer Celeste.
  • Bother You - Reverend Baron | Seems fitting with the news in January. If it don't bother you, ain't none of your concern.
  • I got to Sleep - Anika | Superbly dark cover version of The Pretenders - puts me in mind of Nico.
  • Pure Love (Night) - DJ Koze and Damon Albarn | Crisp production for a laid back dancefloor... featuring the super productive Damon Albarn.
  • Most of us are Sad - Charles Brown | Fresh soul, sounding classic.
  • These Arms of Mine - Otis Redding | Classic Soul, sounding as fresh as ever.
  • The Secret is Out - The River Bottomed Fig Plucker | This reminded me of Johnny Cash.
  • cosa rara - Lucretia Salt & David Sylvian | Ethereal
  • Wish I could - Galine | Belgian-Dutch singer with fresh Indie Pop.
