Hey everyone, Iโm Matt!
My goal is to help you get the best out of yourself. Each week, I seek out great content to support our personal growth. Iโll couple that with some links that I know youโll find interesting AND a musical recommendation.
Elsewhere, you can find my daily notes here, and Iโm posting on Threads as well.
Thanks for joining me - now, onto the good stuff!
Monday Motivation. Let this week be the one where you take a shortcut with this list of seven ways to get ahead that people rarely think about. #2 and #5 are particularly excellent pieces of advice that will help you every. single. day.
Compliments. 99 unique compliments that aren't about the way someone looks. Try one of these each day this week, I guarantee everyone will feel the benefit, especially you.
Advice. Forty pieces of unconventional advice. #9, #25 are good advice, and I highly recommend #21 for a 10% improvement in life.
Interview. Seven great questions to ask a hiring manager to find out their style before you jump in feet first.
Regret. How the fear of regret can shape the way you make decisions. Knowing what is happening when you are presented with choices can help you make better decisions.
Trust. How to build trust as a manager. The foundation: do your f*cking job.
Smart. The dumber side of smart people. Being very smart makes it harder to listen to people who are less credentialed than you, even when they might have the right answer.
Portable. These fifteen portable houses are a minimalist dream. I love the idea of spending time in a place like this.
Drawing. Six exercises that can help you learn to draw. I have horrible drawing skills, Iโm going to practice some of these and see if I can improve at all.
Curiosity. The nine habits of the curious mind. I really like this explanation of how curiosity is made up.
Happiness. How chasing happiness can lead to misery. Better to learn to โwant what you haveโ.
Celebrity. Ever wondered what your favourite celebrities are doing right now? This handy timeline explains everything about the daily routines of the rich and 'famous'.
Finally. Clever word game that combines anagrams with theme guessing. Simple and teasing.
๐ Stuff to Listen to...
๐ง Something slightly different, and very useful this week.
This excellent playlist contains music designed to help you sleep. Every track has been thoughtfully selected to guide your nervous system into a state of rest.
I road tested this on my recent trip to San Francisco for work, and even with jetlag this helped me drift off on the plane, and most evenings I was there.
Even if you're wide awake at work now, I'd recommend saving this one for future use.
Stuff someone said.
Long after people forget the details, theyโll remember your kindness.
