πŸ‘“ Stuff #188 - rock, paper, scissors!

Thanks for joining me on our shared quest for improvement.

Each week, I seek out great content to support our personal growth. I’ll couple that with some links that I know you’ll find interesting. Elsewhere, you can find my daily notes here, and I’m posting on Threads as well.

Thanks for joining me - now, onto the list!

Monday Motivation. Let this week be the one where you develop your coaching skills by leveraging the GROW model. I explain the four stages of the GROW model, and share some example questions that will ignite your next coaching conversation.

Pep. Eight ways to give yourself a motivational pep talk when you feel stuck.  Psychology driven practical advice that you can use when things aren’t going as you want. I like #3, the act of finding a win can really change your perspective.

Projects. The history of project management, including some of the key techniques you can use.

Remote. How successful people structure their remote working. I have been watching my wife onboard into a new remote role this week, having routine and structure has been part of the process.

Solutions. Problem solving techniques that work for all kinds of challenges. Simple explanations of 26 excellent techniques for tackling the big problems. I like the way each of these is explained with clear examples.

Sleep. Stop your sleep procrastination. We all know how important sleep is to our health and wellbeing, as well as our career. As part of a good sleep hygiene practice, reducing late screentime is important.  For other sleep hygiene tips, I’ve got you covered.

Background. I have featured these tools before, but this background noise generator is clever. It explains WHY each sound works, and in what context it can help you.  Then it lets you customise each sound so that it is perfect.

Friends. 101 ways to make and maintain friendships. A lot of common sense on this list, but a good reminder of what it takes to build friendships. If you have someone you haven’t spoken to for a while, why not get in touch today?

Music. Record.Club is a new free social network focused on the love of music. It’s an excellent place to discover music, and also meet fans who share your taste. The design and interface are excellent and it integrates with streaming services.  It’ll come as no surprise that I’m a member there, I’m looking forward to seeing how this one develops.

Writing. A reminder that hand writing your notes is better for your brain than typing. With new AI note taking services rolling out that require neither, I wonder what the view of this will be in a year.

Movies.  A Good Movie to Watch. Really simple site that suggests a good film, very simple interface and so far, I’ve seen some great recommendations that I’ve added to my watchlist.

Finally. Rock, Paper, Scissors. Play against a moustache wearing cowboy that adapts to your strategy.

πŸ”ˆ Stuff to Listen to...

🎧 This week's aural treat is the album from Beth Gibbons, who most of you will know as the 'voice' of Portishead.

The new collection is called 'Lives Outgrown' and takes a gentle folky tone, and over the ten years since her last output (with Rustin Man) - there have been a lot of life events documented in the music.

I love Beth Gibbons' voice, and this is a beautiful showcase of a real talent.

Highly recommended.
