Sending this from Spain again, still recharging the batteries - I hope this week finds you happy and safe.
Each week, I seek out great content to support our personal growth. I’ll couple that with some links that I know you’ll find interesting. Elsewhere, you can find my daily notes here, and I’m posting on Threads as well.
Thanks for joining me - now, onto the list!
Monday Motivation. Let this week be the one where you power-up your Storytelling skills. I’ve been trying to use the Situation, Complication, Resolution framework in my role for a while, it’s an excellent way of framing up a complicated story that you need to share.
Success. Lead with love and the five principles of energetic success. Learn how you and your team can make changes to ensure you operate in a ‘constructive energy zone’.
Disconnect. From FOMO to JOMO. Some advantages to disconnecting, when was the last time you really switched off? On my vacation, the JOMO kicked in on day two or three, and I’ve been more relaxed because of it.
Mindfulness. Audit your workplace and maximise well-being. I like this methodology for ensuring that your workplace supports your mental wellbeing. There is some strong science behind the psychology of your environment. I enjoy looking at peoples workspaces, and find that I’m drawn to the calmer ones.
Productivity. If you want to be more productive, you need to slow down. Another very sensible article on the importance of thinking while you work. I covered this before in my review of Slow Productivity by Cal Newport. Bonus Stuff: Lazy Work, Good Work.
Meetings. How to pick the right seat in a meeting, every time. I’ve often walked into a meeting room, and not known exactly where I’d be best located. This guide has all the answers.
Travel. Can travel make you more creative? This artist definitely thinks so, and these scientists seem to back it up. I’m on the second week of a holiday, and I’m finding myself with new ideas almost every day now that I’m not thinking about work.
Minimal. 30 areas of your life where subtracting can add more. Some of these suggestions are golden, #11, #16 and especially #26 have made a difference to my life.
Cards. 99 things to write in a card for all occasions. Even in our digital world, I love sending a greetings card and I keep a stack of blank cards to send at the right moment. This list has great suggestions on what to write. Why not send someone a card today?
Connection. Debunking the rules of conversation. Improve the way that you connect with people by understanding the real rules of conversation.
Dolphins. I went on a boat trip this week to see dolphins, after five hours we saw exactly no Dolphins. I guess that they were all under the deep blue sea.
Finally. Bullet Time Pong. Play Pong against an AI opponent. Gets a bit mad after a while!
🔈 Stuff to Listen to...
🎧 This week's aural treat is the new album from Stuff favourite, Keaton Henson. It's called Somnambulant Cycles.
This time Keaton lays down the guitar, and gets back to a more classical composition that explores different feelings of subconscious states. It sounds a bit 'hokum', but really its a beautiful album of instrumental tunes described as 'anti lethargy'.
I loved it, gentle and thoughtful music that will leave you relaxed.
I hope you enjoy it.
