Hi from Dublin, I'm Matt...

As always, hope this week finds you safe and well...

It's that time of the month where I bring you the Stuff Mixtape, alongside the usual list that makes us all smarter, stronger and more super. Stick the mix on, and get stuck in!

Thank you for being a part of Stuff. If you received this email from an excellent friend, and would like to subscribe, please go here. If you'd like an archive of Stuff from the beginning of 2022 - it's here.

Onward with the Stuff that MattRs this week...
  1. Monday Motivation:  Let this week be the one where you start to deal with being micromanaged.  Firstly, here's 7 ways to identify a micro-manager.  Then, some superb tips on how to solve the problem.  Finally, some more ways to deal with things, without losing your job.
  2. Your new superpower:  Learn how to be the respectful voice of dissent, some of the most powerful people I've worked with have the ability to disagree in a respectful and persuasive way.   You can go one step further and really learn how to change someone's mind.
  3. 100 ways to live to be 100: I know how much you love a list, and this one does a great job of collecting some great advice about staying healthy and prolonging your life.  None of these are groundbreaking, but they are worth a read, I'm adopting a few over the coming weeks/months.  If you figure out the secret to long life, you could win a serious prize!
  4. Take care: One the best ways to stay well and healthy is to reduce stress.  This guide to managing stress is excellent, with some great practical steps.  I learned about the 4 A's of stress management, Avoid, Alter Adapt and Accept.
  5. TWIL:  Someone has designed a skyscraper that is 170km long, and could house nine million people.   It's called The Line, and looks INCREDIBLE.
  6. More than just 'stand up': 25 easy ways to get fit at your desk, great for working from home, maybe not so hot for the office!
  7. Free, gratis, for nothing:  Cinetimes gives you access to movies and documentaries that are free to watch on the web.  Some absolute gems in here.
  8. Return ticket to five hours please: Chronotrains is encouraging us to go on a five-hour train journey, just find your local station and it'll tell you where you could get to.
  9. Eject, eject, eject!  Have you ever ejected from a plane? Nope, me neither - but if you do, you can get a tie.
  10. Finally: Puzzle Party is another experiment from the excellent Google Arts and Culture team. This time, you can work on an online artistic jigsaw puzzle alongside your friends and family.

The Stuff Mixtape for August is absolutely crammed full of summer time music. Opening with some classic 70's reggae, and a tribute to a sweetheart.

There are some 'on-the-money' club bangers, a superb track from Queen Beyonce, and some bonkers 80's French art-pop before classic London electro and a big soul classic from Little Stevie Wonder.

I'll bring you home with some chilled music from around the world, including an EPIC cover version.

It's the ideal soundtrack to a hot August
